Mayor Coleman highlights Restoration Academy in final State of the City
COWIC program assists ex-offenders with job training
In his final State of the City address in February, Columbus Mayor Michael B. Coleman presented a trailer for a documentary highlighting a COWIC program aimed at helping ex-offenders with job training.
The documentary about the Restoration Academy features program graduates and supporters since the program started in 2012.
“In this situation, people have fallen down and are trying to get back up,” Mayor Coleman says in the documentary trailer. The full documentary will be released later this year.
The Restoration Academy is a six-month job training program that helps ex-offenders reenter the job market through training and internship opportunities with Central Ohio businesses. The City of Columbus and COWIC work together in running the program, with the help of area social services groups and businesses.
