OJT gives employers an incentive to hire central Ohio’s unemployed workers, while giving job seekers the hands-on training to ensure that they have the skills needed to stay and progress. It’s simple. You hire, you train, and we pay! OJT offers funding for eligible workers to help pay for short –term on-the-job training after they have received a bona fide job offer. In most cases, reimbursement to the employer is up to 50% of the trainee’s wages during the training period. Small businesses may be eligible for more than 50% reimbursement.
Customized training is training designed to meet the needs of a specific employer or group of employers needing to introduce new technologies, new production or service procedures, or an upgrade of existing skills to new or current employees. Under customized training, employers may be reimbursed 10% to 50% of the total cost of training, depending on company and number of employees. Eligible costs include the cost of instruction and/or instructor, wages of employees being trained during the training period (as part of employer’s match), cost of curriculum development associated with course, and materials as needed for the course.
