4 Steps to Success
All job seekers interested in participating in the S.O.A.R. hire! Internship Program must:
- Fill out the application online or at COWIC
- Register for your job readiness workshop. COWIC will contact you to schedule this following application completion
- Complete the workshop and obtain your certificate of completion before the May 18th S.O.A.R. hire! Job Expo
- Attend the S.O.A.R. hire! Job Expo at COSI on Wed. May 18 from 9am – 5pm for your chance to be matched with a local employer for an internship. Bring multiple copies of your resume and dress for success

COWIC's Youth Workforce Services are structured to serve the particular needs of those just entering the workforce. Among other opportunities, COWIC's Youth Workforce Services offers internship opportunities to young adults ages 16-24.
The youth programs and services found in the Workplace Central One-Stop include job readiness training, career exploration and development of basic skills. In the Work Place Central One-Stop, COWIC's younger job and internship seekers have access to phones, internet- ready computer stations, fax machines, copiers and advisors for job searches or homework assignments, all in one convenient location. All Workplace Central One-Stop resources are available free of charge.
COWIC's S.O.A.R. hire! Internship Program is a unique youth-driven program where participants explore various career options and learn what they must do to prepare themselves academically. Job placements during the summer as well as throughout the year provide valuable learning experiences.
Thanks to COWIC's public-private partnership with the City of Columbus, local academic institutions, area businesses and community-based organizations that serve youth, the S.O.A.R. hire! Internship Program can reconnect area youth, provide young people with valuable work experience and help local businesses access a pool of qualified seasonal employees.
COWIC's Youth Service Department is governed by a Youth Council whose mission is to empower youth to develop life-long learning, earning, and serving skills, utlilizing inter-generational support, community service and partnerships. The Youth Council supports all Central Ohio youth in becoming the person they aspire to be through coordination of resources, workforce opportunities and nurturing communities.
